About the Opelousas Art Walk

The drive behind the Opelousas Art Walk is to provide downtown with an engaging and immersive opportunity, by spotlighting talented local artists with the community. As a graphic artist, Carlos Lerma, owner of Java Square, understands art and the creative skill of visually communicating, as it’s one of his passions. “We receive requests from so many artists to display work in our shop, and it's always been a hard choice for us. Not because we didn't appreciate it, but because saying yes to one person was saying no to another.

So our goal is to create a platform for creatives to have an avenue that highlights their work, and helps provide downtown Opelousas with a new way to connect with the arts. As we start this new journey, we look forward to all that’s to come with our city and the arts.”

"Whether it is health, education, economy, or faith, the arts improve our communities and our lives, and they lend themselves to practical, solution-oriented philosophies to bind us socially and improve the world in which we live." ROBERT L. LYNCH
